Ember sits in the classroom drumming her fingers against a desk as she looks at the very obviously empty seat next to her, not knowing where Kai is, is he fine? Is everything okay or not? He was only just behind her. She is trying to push down her crazy possessiveness over him, trying to make herself believe that she is only concerned about his welfare. She doesn’t dare to delve into the fact that she doesn’t want to be separated from him at all, that will make everything that has to happen later a whole lot harder, even though she has been thinking about this fact less and less.
Finally, the door opens and the large form of a very troubled looking Kai comes into sight. Ember instantly sits up straight when she sees his expression. A look of worry instantly marring her beauty.
