Kai looks beside him at Ember’s beautiful side profile as she stares wistfully out at the trees, his large hand moves across and sits casually on her thigh, giving a small squeeze.
“Would you have preferred it if I rode you back to Amethyst?”
Kai is actually surprised how quickly he has started to joke about his incapacity. Ember forces a slight laugh, she is stuck, while what her father did was unforgivable. Looking at Kai grieving his own father, she feels strange to complain about it. She is not sure how to say anything, she is not sure when it is too soon to complain.
“Hey, what my father did to me was nothing like what your father did to you. My father was following the traditions of Misty Dawn and also wanted the best for me. Your father wanted you to get….. umm I don’t know”
