Chapter 20

The night sky was covered by the tall trees.

It's dark, my vision was quite blurry and dim.

I was running, panting...

Why was I running?

Where am I?

I shivered as the cold wind brushed my body. I was running barefooted, I could feel the cold, wet ground, the bushes and sharp stone pinching my feet. I didn't know why I was running but I kept my pace. I cannot remember annything before this. What has happened?

To whom was I running from? I passed a lot of trees, branches scraping my shoulders as I winced in pain. Why am I in the forest and how did I get here?

I continued to run frantically as fast as I could. I ran and ran until my feet wobbled frrom tiredness and I didnt even realize I stumbled on a big rock and fell on a small cliff, I rolled on my back until I stopped and hit my stomach on a tree stump. I coughed and winced in pain. I could feel my body giving up. I tried to stand but I quickly fell down. I scraped my knee so bad. I tried to sit upright and put my back against the rocks behind me. I was shivering and and I felt my face getting wet. I wiped it with my arm. I didn't even know I was crying. Why is this happening? I tried to catch my breath and calmed down. My ears strated ringing and I felt all the parts of my body in pain. I tried to stand up to see where I could go but it was too dark.

After a few minutes I heard footsteps on top of where I fell off. It was about 8 feet from where I was sitting.

''Come out little miss!'' I heard one guy say.

''You can't really hide frrom us, we can smell you,'' Another spoke. It was a woman's voice. They both laughed hysterically.

Smell me? What are they, some kind of animal?!

I didnt know, but what they said gave me goosebumps-- I was scared. For the first time today, I thought if I was going to die. Someone please help...

As my eyes felt blurry, my body shaking in fear and tiredness, I tried to calm myself and kept quiet. I wiped my tears and my eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness. I tried to find a way out. No one is coming to save me, I dont even know how I got here. I thought this was all just a dream but I could feel every pain in my body and it's telling me this is as real as it can be.

I heard a movement on the bush and suddenly a man jumped out frrom nowhere.

''There you are!'' The guy I heard earlier was already infrront of me, then the girl followed. I stood up but i didn't notice I was already backed in the corner. I have no way out!

''Lets us have a little taste, shall we?'' The girl said.

''How dare you run away frrom us!'' the guy said but I cannot make their faces. It was dark from where they are standing from as the trees shadow was covering their half top bodies.

''Armin, can we have a little snack before handing her over to our master?'' the girl asked the guy he was referring to as armin.

''Boss might not like it,'' he said and slowly moved forward to the moonlight where I could see him clearly. What shocked me was his white pale skin and fangs coming out of his mouth. He smiled mischievously.

''Who are you people!'' I shouted at them with all the courage I could muster.

But instead of answering me, they laughed like lunatics. The woman stepped into the moonlight and I saw her red, bloodshut eyes.

''We are not people...'' The woman answered while still laughing, mocking me from what I said as if it was hilarious.

''I wanna lick those wounds so bad...'' The crazy woman said. The man just stood there, staring at me, as if he was studying me and my movement.

''What do you want?!'' I said, my voice about to c***k.

''We want our bait back, meaning you.'' He simply answered.

''Wh-what?'' I asked in shock. How can I be bait?! And for who? I do not know anyone... I cannot think of anyone. It cannot be my parents, we are just average people, my dad is a good man, we dont do drugs, we dont commit crimes or know anyone of high ranking officials for me to be targeted like this!

''Just stop talking. Can I just drain her instead, Armin?'' This crazy woman spoke again. Drain me of what, life? My knees started to wobble as I can no longer move. The pain, tiredness is slowly catching up to me.

''You are crazy!'' I tried to shout at her to show them I was not scared. But infact, I was.'' I found a tree branch near me so I grabbed it and pointed it towards them.

''What are you going to do with that? beat us?'' the guy said looking amused he was grinning. When I looked at the woman she looked pissed.

''Did you just call me crazy?! call me crazy one more time and I will show you what crazy means!'' She sounded so pissed as she gritted her teeth showing more of her fangs.

I do not want to say it but... are they vampires? They are not real aren't they? they are just fiction, one we read about in books, nothing more nothing less.

I feel crazy thinking about it.

''I-I'' I tried to utter but there were no longer words left to speak. My voice cracked. Just where am I?

Somebody, please save me...

''You b*tch! come here!'' she said as she stormed at me angrily and slammed me against the dirt. I fell down and she was on top of me, choking the life out of me. In a second, it was like I could see my life flash in my mind. Am I really going to die here? My tears fell as I try to grab her hand to try and fight for my life but it was no use. I am not strong enough, but even if I had the energy I could never beat this woman. I could feel myself slowly losing air, a sharp pain in my neck, her nails slowly digging through my skin. My eyesight staring to blacken. It is so hard to breathe.

''Ple-please... let... let me--'' And before I could even finish my sentence I could feel a huge relief... She was no longer on top of me. I gasped for air as I laid down there helpless. The woman who pinned me against the dirt was thrown off the tree.

What just happened?!
