I reached for my mate, but she wasn’t next to me. I strained to hear her in the bathroom, not that I was eavesdropping on her pee but something was off. I didn’t hear her moving around.
I shot up, flipping on a light and almost tripping over the sheets I pulled with me.
The bathroom was empty. At least she wasn’t passed out in the bath or something, or maybe that was just what you had to worry about with babies.
Not the time, she’s not here. Focus.
