The soft hum of morning drifted through the room, accompanied by a faint breeze slipping past the curtains. Sunlight spilled onto the edge of my bed, gently nudging me awake. I stirred, blinking up at the ceiling as fragments of last night came rushing back… the basement, the whispers, the laughter, the secrets that are lurking inside. My heart beat a little faster.
