“What is going on here? Virginia, how many times have I talked to you about this, this is my company and not yours, I make the rules and you are meant to follow them, is that right?” He asked and the receptionist whom Amelia had just learnt that her name was Virginia.

Amelia was stating at Cullen, he was very handsome in person and she also noticed that he liked going to the gym, just how he was body was looking in that fine soon, it said everything about him, she liked him already, no offense.

“I am sorry sir, but she did not have an appointment to see you.”

“So, does that give you the permission to ask her out and that she can come tomorrow, who are you to make such decisions? You are here for one reason Virginia, only one reason and that is to work for me, I pay you to work for me, so I would suggest you stop whatever game you are playing and do what is expected of you, there is a reason why you have that phone on your desk, it is not a sculpture, you are supposed to call my office and I am the one to decide on what to do and not you, I think I have told you these countless times and you are now trying to get on my last nerve, try that again and I will have you fired, so don’t do that next time, I can’t believe that you made me come down here, don’t make me do that.” He said in a menacing but lower voice.

“I am sorry sir, it won’t happen again.” She said.

“It better don’t because I won’t hesitate to fire you.” He said and then walked to where Amelia was seated like nothing had just happened.

“Hi Amelia, sorry you had to witness that.” He said and stretched his arm to greet her, his hand was warm and soft and Amelia wished she never let go but she had to be professional, that was not a love contest but an internship that her sister had gotten for her and she did not want to end up screwing anything even before it started.

“No problem Sir, I understand, thank you for coming in person.” She said respectfully.

“You can call me Cullen by the way Cullen Smith but not at work though.” He said and laughed heartily as they headed for the private elevators.

Hmm, so he can laugh too? Damn he looks like a prince charming when he laughs and his teeth, my God, I would love to watch him laugh the whole day, and it won’t kill to see his other side. Amelia said inwardly as she stepped into the elevators and Cullen pressed the sixth floor button.

“Oh yes, I understand, I get it, I totally do.” She said as she tried to find the right words to tell him, to say that truth, he was making her quite uncomfortable, she just could not believe that she was in the elevators, alone with her soon-to-be prince charming boss.

“No problem, so your sister has been my friend for long, ever since we were in college in fact, she and her husband Arnold are my only friends, to be honest, I have watched you grow too and when she said that you were looking for an internship, I said to myself, why not just hire you? Here you are going to gain lots of experiences and who knows, you might even get lucky and get a job after your internship, but that is a story for another day.”

“Thank you Sir, I really appreciate everything.”

“You don’t need to thank me, I did this because your sister has been there for me always, she has been my great friend and what are friends for anyway? We do this all the time, plus it is just not about your sister, and I think she forgot to mention that you have grown so big and more beautiful, the last time I saw you was on your graduation in senior high school, congratulations by the way, you chose the right course, this all the way down, you are at the right place.” He said as they stepped out of the elevators and walked to his office, they passed by Melanie’s office, his PA.

“Hi Melanie, this is Amelia Watson, sister to Chloe Watson, you know my friend? She is the one I was telling you about, will you please make arrangement for her office to be prepared?” he said and Amelia could never be happier in her life, she was having her own office and in the famous museum Art, to her, it was like her dream come true.

“Welcome to Smith’s Art museum Company, it is nice to meet you Miss Amelia.” Melanie said with a smile on her lips.

“Thank you Melanie, I am really humbled.” She said and after Cullen giving out more orders, they both walked into his office, it had a nice couch, a water dispenser on the other end, the office was well equipped and it was overlooking the city.

“You are welcome, you may have a seat, would you like some coffee, tea or juice, I have a lot of things to talk to you about and also guide you, a drink will be great for this.” He said as he opened the fridge

“A glass of water will be fine.” She said as she roamed her eyes all over the room, it was like her dream office.

“So, Amelia, what made you settle for this course, like what was your inspiration?” he asked as he resumed his seat and sat facing her.

“I have always loved art since I was a kid and my mom would always take me to these art museums and in short I am in love with arts, artifacts, sculptures and all of that, so when I first joined college I was torn in between doing what I wanted and doing what was expected of me, my mom wanted me to venture into a business course and take this as an addition to it, but I just decided to go with passion, with what I was in love with and now I am here.” She said and Cullen sighed.

“Well, I think we are on the same page here, so here you won’t have to do much and since you are on your internship, I promised your sister that I was going to do anything to help you learn and gain more experience, you are at the right place, and here I will guide you through what you are expected to do and what is expected of you, the rules and the regulations of the company, the dos and the don’ts and just everything in general and by the end of the three months period, I am sure you will have gained so much to help you out there, so here is the contract, I want you to go through it, slowly and carefully and very keen then you will sign at the end, just at the far end on your right, I hope you are okay with that?”

“Of course, I have no problem with that, I am okay,” she said as she took the contract and started reading through it as Cullen got busy on his desk, after she had read through, she signed and handed back the papers to him.

“Okay, I think we are good to go, I will just brief you on your duties while you are her then I will take you to your office, you will start working right away, I hope you have read through the contract, there is some allowances for you including medical cover, rent and all that, you have gone through them right?”

“Of course, yes and thank you.”

“There is no need to thank me yet Amelia, you will thank me by the end of this period, anyway, as I was saying, your duties here will be simple and easy, you will be assisting the guest curators and the director, me, with the research of current and upcoming exhibitions, within this company and the Artist in Residency, you will be helping compile information and materials about the artists involved in the exhibits and also gather support materials for the exhibit and among others, but in most occasions, you will be helping the research and also accompanying me to some meetings, which will later on as time goes by, but the ones I have mentioned is what you are going to start with, I hope you are okay with that, or do you have any questions?” he asked.

“Yes, I am okay with everything, I am just over excited about all of this, although I have one question, I don’t think it is related to what you have just mentioned.”

“Yeah sure, just go ahead and ask.”

“About the office, I heard you telling Melanie to prepare an office, is it for me? Like I’m I going to have my own office?” she asked excitement in her voice and Cullen smiled.

“Of course, I asked her to prepare the office for you, if you have no other question, I think I will ask Melanie here, she will give you a tour around the office and also show you around the company.” He said and then called Melanie in his office.

“Is everything set?” he asked.

“Yes sir, the office is ready and just the way you asked.”

“Okay, thank you Melanie, now I want you to take Miss Amelia to her office and the show her around her office and also around the company, I mean a tour with her.”

“Okay sir, Miss Amelia, this way please.” Melanie said to Amelia as the two got out of Cullen’s office.

“She is sure going to be the death of me” Cullen said out loud after the two walked out of his office.
