“How is it like working here?” Amelia decided to keep the conversation going.

“It is nice, I love working here, in fact I have been working in this company for seven years now and I don’t think you will regret coming here, this will be your office now, I hope you like the arrangement, I didn’t know how you wanted the setup to be so I tried to be as general as possible.”

“It is nice, I love everything in here, the mahogany desk, the setup is okay, I appreciate the fact that I can view the whole city through my widow, who wouldn’t love it here?” She asked as he walked and placed her handbag on the desk and went ahead to sit on the swivel chair, “Damn, I love it here already.” She said as she swung on the chair and Melanie smiled.

Melanie was a middle aged woman who had been working at the company for close to eight years, she was working as senior Smith’s Personal Assistant and even after Cullen took over the company, h still kept her as his Personal Assistant; she was among the few trusted employees at the company and she loved working under Cullen, he was the most understanding boss she had ever worked for.

“I am glad that you like your office, by the way this was the outreach director’s office, she went for a maternity leave and since Cullen thinks that she was the best in here, he doesn’t want to hire another one and you are lucky, I don’t know if he has a soft spot for him or something but most intern who work here don’t have their own offices, you are lucky I must say that.” She said and in as much as Amelia wanted to mention that it was something to do with her sister Chloe being friends with Cullen, she decided not to mention anything, she was still new at the place and she did not know whom to trust, she had to lay low.

“I think I just woke up lucky today, thank you though, I just realized that you are the only one who is talking nicely to me, I did not get good reception when I walked in, you see that Virginia or whatever her name is, she hates me and I don’t know why, we just met and she is already giving an attitude, I don’t know why.”

“Oh, Virginia is always like that especially if she feels threatened, she will always act repulsive and very protective of Cullen, I am sorry you had to go through that but just so you know, that is her attitude, in fact, you won’t have any peace in here, she is going to annoy the hell out of you, you better get ready and prepared for that.” She said and Amelia shook her head.

“Can I ask why she is so repulsive and protective of him, are they a thing? And why wild she feel threatened about me, I am nothing, just an intern who will be here for a short time, I don’t think she should be threatened about me, I don’t understand, what is up with her anyway.”

“Ha-ha, you won’t understand but I think you have been in love before right?” she asked and Amelia nodded while smiling, she was getting her point and to her it was just funny.

“Yes, I think one or twice I don’t even remember the last time I was in love, love is overrated sometimes so, I just decided to roll on my own, is she in love with Cullen?” she asked while whispering, they were still in her new office and she was finding Melanie to be such a nice company, she would totally ride with her.

“I know I am not supposed to tell you this but I will still tell you though, you see Virginia’s father is a friend to Cullen’s father and the two happen to be childhood friend but fell out when Cullen got to campus, they don’t hang out anymore because Virginia fall for him and he did not feel the same way about him, he takes her as his own sister and that is the worst part for her, she loves him and she is always threatened by beautiful girls employed here and here you are, she thinks you might take him form her.”

“Huh, I don’t understand, if Cullen doesn’t feel the same way about him, why would she be so desperate to fight for a guy who doesn’t give a single flying f**k about her, no that can’t be me, there are so many men out there who would feel the same way about her and love her the right way, I am not even a threat to her, I don’t think even think Cullen is into brunettes.” She said and Melanie chuckled.

“You don’t know how heart feelings will drive you, she is a woman in love and you know how a woman in love behaves you are pretty Amelia and if I was Virginia and I was dating Cullen, I would feel threatened by the way and something funny is that Cullen doesn’t feel the same way about her, in fact I have never seen him close to any girl or woman, he is just different and he is almost hitting thirty, I just pity Virginia, she has totally refused to get herself a man who would love her and settle down, ‘she is still waiting for him to be ready’ and I don’t think Cullen is ready, he likes perfection and he thinks that a woman he wants to marry should be as perfecta s these sculptures and arts you see in here.”

“Whoa that sucks for her, but I am only her for one reason, for my internship and once I am done, I will be out of her way and she won’t even notice me the whole time I will be here, so I don’t think she should feel threatened by me anymore.” She said and Melanie shrugged.

“Yeah, I feel sorry for her sometimes, but you see it is none of my business and she speaks to no one in her, she is always secluded in one corner like a loner she is and you see, I don’t like invading people’s privacy and I like keeping my nose out of people’s businesses.” She said and Amelia smiled.

“I guess that is the only way to survive in here, so what is the worst she has done to any intern here so that I would be prepared for her, I just don’t like these stupid cat fights by the way.”

“Well, she has done worse but the worst was when she hired goons to attack an innocent girl who was here for internship, she was not even with Cullen, Virginia just suspected and she had actually warned her several times but it was not even true, she was hospitalized and Virginia was suspended and arrested but she was released out on bail, I tell you that girl is nuts and just be careful around her, she can do harm, she can even poison you, she will go down that path if she suspects that you have something for Cullen, just be careful.” She said seriously and Amelia nodded, she was going to be extra careful around her, despite it was not like Cullen was even interested in her, she was going to do what took her in that company and that was to work and once her internship was over, she was going to walk out of the place and Virginia won’t have to feel threatened by her.

“I will stay out of trouble, I don’t want to get killed because of stupid things, anyway her jealousy almost cost someone life, why was she not fired or arrested and jailed for assault, the world is never fair sometimes.”

“Well like I said, she is family friends with Cullen and her father is a well-known billionaire in this city, she just got lucky and she can’t be fired because she is family friend with Cullen, I don’t know why she is working as a receptionist though, she was doing modeling and she had a successful career and then just decided to come here and embarrass herself fighting with girls because of a man who doesn’t even feel the same way about her, she has already spotted you and she won’t stop, she is going to make your life a living hell here until you decide to call it quits yourself, so my advice to you, just be careful around her, she is bad news.”

“I got you Melanie, thank you, I appreciate you trying to keep me safe in here, but trust me, I can take care of myself while here, I know how to handle her, I won’t be afraid of her just because some interns were, I am going to work as me, thank you though.” She said with a smile on her face and Melanie sighed.

“Well, I am glad that you can take care of yourself, now let me walk you around and leave you to embark on your first day of internship, shall we?” She asked.

“Of course, let us keep moving.” Amelia said as she followed Melanie out of the office and made sure she locked the door behind her, they both headed for the elevators, Amelia was more than happy to have made a friend on her first day of internship.
