Marcu stayed for a little while to discuss the situation, but we didn’t delve into anything personal. He tried to ask me a few questions about my life, but I always deflected and changed the subject. I wasn’t ready to get into that with him—at least not yet. As soon as he left, I sat on the couch to decompress after everything I had just learned about my father, especially since I hadn’t been looking for him. Landon sat next to me and put his arm around my shoulders. I sensed his hesitation and figured he was expecting me to push him away, but instead, I rested my head on his shoulder. He visibly relaxed after that and began rubbing my shoulder as we stared at the fireplace. Meadow was buzzing in my mind, reveling in the closeness to her mate. “Are you alright?” Landon finally asked.
