Cooper knocked on the door and opened it slowly to find me lying on the bed. He probably wanted to check that I was still there. He came in and sat down on the side of the bed. “I know you’re worried about that girl,” Cooper said, his brow furrowed with concern as he glanced out at the darkening woods. “We’ll get her out, but we have to be smart about it. We can’t go back there anymore. No more teleporting. That was way too close.” His voice dropped to a whisper, as if the very trees might overhear. I shrugged, my pulse still racing from the recent escape. “There was no way they were going to catch us,” I replied, confidence seeping back into my tone.
