Derek’s pov
I felt so much shame and embarrassment when I had to call Mum and Dad to tell them I had been fired and I was moving back to Nevada. I had a couple of interviews set up near my parents, and I asked Mum if she could find a place for me to rent.
I knew they didn’t like Candice, and I didn’t want to have to bring her to stay at their house. Mum found us a nice little three bedroom place and paid the deposit and first month’s rent for us. It was more than I had been expecting, and I was grateful for it.
I was glad that I had furniture from the place Valentina and I shared as I really didn’t need the extra expense right now. Candice wasn’t happy, but when is she ever. She wanted new everything, and I had to put my foot down.
