The Next Generation

We come to massive black gates, I can see and feel the spell that sizzles on my skin. It's my parents magic, every person has their own magic signature. Depending what house your from is what colour it is. So you can always have the same colour as other people. But the magic signature will never be the same and this is our hole coven, I can feel all of our parents workings in the spell. I look at the other girls to see if this is a surprise to them and it clearly is as they all stare at each other in shock! “WHAT THE.....” Jo calls out. “SHHHH” Dawn says and gives us all a stern look. OK maybe I shouldn’t let them know what my parents told me. Dawn definitely knows something, but if the Academy aren’t to know what they have told us, then the less of us who do know the better. The gates open and we are driven slowly inside, it looks like we are about to enter through a shimmering wall of nothing. As we come out the other side buildings become clear and they are massive, it looks like a normal modern university campus! High walls made of windows on one block in front of us, the next is just two levels high to the left, we pass to our right what looks to be the sports hall. On the left must be the food courts as I can smell food coming through the vents of the bus. We drive around the modern campus turning to the left just past the food courts. “This place is huge!” Jo whispers. We start to see students wearing their uniform going about their day. We see a bunch of wolves with their girls sat on benches further down from the food court. As our bus moves forward, we see a figure running at super speed, the man and its definitely a man! Slows down when he gets to the bus. But he goes to the other side of the bus before I can’t see who it is but as soon as Layla shrieks, I know exactly who that is... I try to see what he’s up too, but then the bus comes to an abrupt stop. I can see him clearly through the side window, even though it’s around 3pm now and he definitely shouldn’t be out and about with the sun shining so strongly. We all laugh as he’s under a massive hoody that has the school’s logo on it. Its my first time of seeing it and I try to get a closer look. But he’s too far away, Seth simply waves to us all and he looks at Layla. I feel like we are all sharing what should be a special moment for them. “Layla, should I get the bra?” Eloise asks her and the moment snaps as we all laugh at her red cheeks. I glance at Seth who seems to be confused as he can obviously hear what Eloise’s saying with that super hearing of his. “Oh my god girls do you have too!” Layla hisses at us. We all laugh even more! “Seth! Come join us” I shout at him. Feeling like we all just embarrassed the pair of lovers with our laughter. He seems to look around then back to us and he shakes his head. It’s another of those small movements from Seth as he moves his head from side to side saying no, I wonder what that’s about. He did that before at the club and again now, thinking about it he made sure both the Vamp and Jonah didn't see him. I need to speak to Seth about that, I make a mental note. He leaves just as quickly as he came, rushing towards the main block as our bus keeps moving forward he's nearly out of sight. But I keep my eye on Seth as he by passes the main building with lots of windows. He stops there and looks at the bus for a second in the shade of the building, but he still keeps his hood up. His eyes meet mine and he I can just make out his nod...what is he up too? He then goes to the left, his pace has slowed down so I can easily follow his movements round the large building. Behind that building is one made of black glass, It looks like the rear windows of a car that they have blacked out for sun shade. But the hole building is covered in it, he stops at the entrance and turns to the bus. Catching my eyes again he nods and goes in. OK Seth made sure I knew where he was then, somethings not right about this place! Right well now we know where the Hybrids and any Vamps are! in the big blacked out building of course! The building looks to be 3 stories high, I wonder if they study and sleep there. Maybe they have different hours than we do? “Girls look!” Layla shrieks As we go through a sudden dense layer of fog at the front of the bus, I’ve missed all this as I had kept my eye on Seth! We come through the fog to a massive castle and another set of massive black gates, as they squeak open we can see the Mage standing with two woman outside the castle. “Is it a castle?” I ask Dawn tapping her arm to get her attention. She laughs “Not exactly, no. It’s an old country house that was originally in Nunny somerset, the original Witches of the Academy stole the castle and brought it here.” She laughs again “That was our grandparents for anyone who is wondering!” She drops that bomb shell on us and we laugh with her. “What a bunch of rebels, I love it!” I say to her. We go along the bridge that covers a moat that flows in a circle just around the castle. In bold print a sign says The Glastonbury Witches Academy “Whoa they went all out then!” Eloise says “Our grandparents rock!” “Damn right!” As the girls settle down and we come to a stop and the door slides open for us to exit, we each get up and leave the safety of the bus. The women next to the bus are smiling at us and I feel instantly relaxed. “Welcome the next generation” The woman to the right shouts, she’s about our parents age and looks quirky, like she belongs reading tarot in New Orleans. That kind of quirky. The woman to the left smiles at her and then turns her warm welcoming smile to us. “We weren’t expecting you all for another year, but it’s lovely to see you all. I haven’t seen you all since you were babies! I’m the head teacher Mrs Barnes” She turns to the lady next to her, who looks like she may burst with excitement as she bounces on her toes! The Mage looks at her disgusted, I decide right then this woman is going to be my new favourite teacher! Just to rub it in his pompous git face. The poor woman looks at him and steps closer to Mrs Barnes like she’s trying to hide! But she manages to smile at us still despite his glaring at her. “Hello all, I’ve been so excited to meet you all. I’m Mrs Leck the deputy head teacher. I studied under all of your parents when I was just older than yourselves. I came to do work experience with your parents coven, well I suppose with your coven, now.” She laughs and I see all my friends smiling broadly at her. Dawn is staring at the Mage though, I follow her line of sight and he’s just staring at me! Paying no attention to anyone else. Ugh Creep! I meet his eyes with a nasty look of my own, which only causes him to smile. Its not a nice smile, it’s like a cat who’s about to eat a mouse smile. The head teacher takes my attention then. “We have department heads too, Jonah here is one of them. Department heads do not require such a formal introduction, you may call them by their first names should you wish too.” OHHHH SNAP! I like this woman already, as my eyes dart to her she smiles. That was a little dig to our resident lunatic Mage Jonah, if ever I heard one and It was meant to be a dig too! Crafty Mrs Barnes! She wipes the smile off his face instantly putting him in his place. Me and Dawn are the only ones to notice though and I hear a laugh try to escape from Dawn. Mrs Barnes covers it quickly with a big smile as she waves to the castle, “Here is where you will all be spending most of your days in the Academy.” She turns and starts to walk up the steps. “Follow us girls” Mrs Leck runs up the steps close on Mrs Barnes heals. “This is the entry hall, it’s a good place to arrange to meet everyone.” Mrs Barnes tells us. I feel a chill and Goosebumps cover my left shoulder, looking behind me Jonah’s just come in and closed the door. Leaving him far to close for comfort, I can feel his breath on my shoulder making me jump and step a little too quickly next to Dawn out of his way. I look at him this close up, he seemed so much older before. But he’s actually not, he can’t be much over 18 and he certainly doesn’t look it up close. He’s actually got one of those baby faces where you always look younger, when he’s not sneering at me anyway. “Now girls who wants to see the penthouse? Or rather your bedrooms!” Mrs Leck exclaimed excitedly. Leaving Mrs Barnes laughing at her fellow colleagues excitement.
