Talia’s POV I felt a little apprehensive when I walked into the alpha’s office and found not only him and the luna, but the beta was also there with my papa and Nate. I stood beside my father and the alpha asked us to sit down; I sat in-between papa and Nate, needing strength from both sides. The alpha started addressing the reason why he summoned us, firstly thanking my father for raising commendable children. “Mr Smith, you should be proud of yourself. You and your mate have obviously done right by your children. The information you gave to Jack has proved to be true and I also believe it may have as well saved his life.” He said. He went on for about five minutes, after which he asked Nate to explain what he had seen by himself. Nate did so quickly, going past the tryst he had witnessed, and explained word for word what Lyann had planned. When he was done, and seated, I looked at him, shocked. Unable to believe Lyann will be caught so quickly, but at the same time feeling sorry he had to be roped into this. When he was done, the beta started speaking. I looked at his honey colour blond hair and sharp green eyes. He should be around six feet tall and well built. At his age, he is still a formidable fighter and is the one that still trains the pack warriors. I felt sympathy for him, wondering how he wasn’t tearing this whole office to shreds. He suggested apprehending his mate and Mark immediately for questioning, to which everyone in the room agreed to, but I felt it will be like shooting ourselves in the leg. When he was done talking, the whole room was vibrating with energy and authority coming from the alpha, luna and him. I timidly asked if I could speak and was given permission to do so by the alpha. I suggested leaving Lyann and Mark alone for now. That it is best if we continue to watch them, in order to gather the information, we need without triggering whomever she was working for. I pointed out we currently have the password needed to meet with the rogues if we wanted to and can gather more information by strictly watching her. They spoke about what I just said and decided it is best to know who the real enemy is without alerting him or her. The luna also brought up Lyann having people within the pack working for her. As she already had someone taking her messages to and back from the rogues, and she emphasised the urgency to fish these people out. At this point my papa spoke up, offering to meet with the rouges when needed instead of Nate or me, as he is also a seasoned and formidable fighter. Just as they were rounding up the meeting, one of the guards mind-linked the alpha. He said the female beta was insisting on seeing him and he asked them to let her through. She walked in and was taken aback when she saw the people in the office, ‘the Smiths again’, she thought, trying to figure out what was going on. Unable to guess what was happening, she decided to ask. “Alpha, it seems this family has something interesting going on. They are always here these days.” Alpha Alex looked up and told her that Nate was being considered for the position of the next beta. Everyone one in the room was dead silent, even Nate. Recovering from shock, Lyann was quick to refuse, stating that there may be others better than Nate. That instead of just handing him the position, a contest should be held. The luna then spoke up and asked her if there is anyone, she knows that is better than Nate. Her response was that she has witnessed the warriors train severally and is in no doubt someone is definitely better than Nate. The alpha dismissed papa, Nate and me while asking Lyann to sit down. Third person’s POV After the Smiths left the alpha’s office, the two male leaders and their females started discussing the pressing issues they were facing, which are mostly food supplies. Although the pack grows its own food and usually has more than enough, the luna said there is a drop in their supply storage lately. Siting they have increased in number, so they need to boost their harvest. As they were talking, a new thought struck Lyann. She knew the pack will probably become weakened if their supplies were to be destroyed. The message she has been waiting for had come just the previous week. Her grandmother, who is a witch, has been trying to pinpoint the raise of the pink moon, and has been able to do so. Now she has to start putting her plans into action. She needs to do all she can to bring down this pack if their plans are to succeed. They can’t afford to have the full moon pack on their backs when they are ready to strike. She also knew she needed to lure more people to her side. Thinking of the people on her side now had her smiling internally, from one of the alpha’s personal guard to some omegas. She felt happy knowing all the years she spent planning have not been futile. Although waiting for the right time to strike had frustrated her. Now she can’t wait to begin to wreak the havoc that will take her family to the palace. After the meeting, Lyann left with luna while Jack and Alpha Alex continued talking. They agreed for Jack to attempt to make the journey to lure the rogues out while they themselves will lay an ambush and apprehend them for questioning. Leaving the alpha’s office, both men decided to go to the training ground. After observing and noting areas in their warriors that needed improvement, they paired the trainees up and started fighting. As the afternoon wore on, both men decided to spar to and that drew the attention of even the cleaners. They chose to fight in their human forms, and it was obvious the alpha was the stronger one, but the beta had a trick or two up his sleeves that impressed all present. They fought for about half an hour before calling it a day and everyone dispersed to their duty. Jack’s POV After sparring with Alex, I went home to clean up and met Lyann. She already changed into a very sexy outfit and where I once would have been aroused, I only felt repulsed. Going into the bathroom, I had a quick shower and lay down on the bed thinking about my fated mate Amelia. I remembered how we met and the joy when she turned out to be my mate. We were totally smitten with each other and she had become pregnant almost as soon as we found out we were mates. When I lost both her and our daughter to rogues, I almost died. That incident had prompted me to start hunting rogues after I came out from that dark place and had earned myself the name “the rogue hunter”. Going down memory lane, I remembered Lia and her sister Abigail, together with our daughter, had been on a picnic with some members of the pack when the attack happened. The rouges had come for the luna but Abigail and had fought like an alpha and just like Lia had been hit with a silver bullet. She was down and bleeding when we got to them. The rogues wanted to finish them off after they were shot, but we arrived before they could get to Abigail. The pain that ravaged me with that incident has never totally disappeared, and after some years, I had lost my son, Evin. I still do not know how I am still here because at that time my wolf took over, and I lost my mind. It had taken the command from Alex and Abigail to not put me down, and now I face yet another dark tunnel. My chosen mate wants me dead. Maybe I was never meant to have a mate, I thought, ignoring Lyann, knowing she probably will not kill me within the pack and drifted off to sleep. Third Person’s POV Eva checked to make sure the door was locked and brought out the charms and protections given to her to subdue her wolf. She mixed the concoctions as she has been thought. Strategically placing them to command the four cardinal points, the four seasons and the four elements. Chanting for the east, west, north and south, for spring, summer, autumn and winter, for fire, wind, water and earth to bow to her. When she was done with her incantations, she allowed the concoctions to burn off on their own as she was not meant to put the fire out herself. She has been doing this since she got the wolf assigned to her and has never missed a day. Until she meets Axel must continue to do so. When she was done, she opened her windows wide, remembering how Talia had been able to pick up the signs of her rituals the previous day. It had greatly disturbed her, as no one had ever been able to pick the signs of these rituals other than her family. When she was fully dressed, she made sure to wear her charm locket, as she had nothing sewn into the top she was wearing. She stepped out of her room, locked her door firmly, and asked one of the guards to go fetch Talia. When Talia arrived, she apologised for being about five minutes late, explaining the alpha had wanted to see her, but not telling her why. Eva stood waiting for Talia to continue, but when she did not, she rolled her eyes and asked her why the alpha was always sending for her. Talia replied that her brother was interested in the role of the next beta. Eva just looked at her and smiled.
