The Watcher Alpha and His Hidden Mate

Episode 7

The next morning, way before dawn, Nate had gotten up to carry on with his surveillance assignment. As he was getting dressed, his mate started complaining about how early it was. He looked at her and told her the well rehashed explanation he had prepared; he told her he needed to train harder, because he intend to try out for the next beta’s position when alpha Axel returns. This made Amara very excited, as she imagined herself as the second-in-command female after luna Eva, so she encouraged him to hurry and go.

After he left the house, he went to one of the training ground beside the entrance of the pack house and started working out, not long two other warriors joined him and they started sparring, but all the while he had his eyes focused on both the entrance of the pack house. About twenty minutes into the training, he noticed someone dressed in all black with a hooded jacket exiting through the side door. Although it was still dark, he could tell by using his wolf’s vision that it was Mark.

Mark stepped out using the side door and wondered why the warriors of this pack never slept, if not for his assignment here he would have left a long time ago the only upside for him was the s*x, especially with Lyann, he smiled thinking the saying that the older the wine the sweeter it tastes. In his hurry to go have another taste of her, he did not notice the sound of a twig getting snagged.

Nate froze as a twig broke under his right foot, cursing himself for his clumsiness. He stood for a few seconds, noting the direction Mark went. He has been walking for about an hour, and has followed Mark to a very secluded grove, wondering what he was doing here, seeing as the first sign of light was yet to appear.

Meanwhile, Lyann woke up well before dawn and snuck out of their house, which is just by the woods. Grateful at times such as this for the location of this house. She quickly made her way to the usual spot where Mark was already waiting for her, looking around to make sure no one was following her. She has surrounded this place with magic to ensure no one else finds their way in here. Pulling back some branches, she walked through and found Mark already waiting for her. Mark raised his head and saw Lyann. He stood up and pulled her to him while kissing and taking off her clothes at the same time. They both fell to the ground oblivious to the dew covered grasses. The only thought in their mind was how to satisfy their craving. Nate stood in his hiding place transfixed as if he had seen a ghost and sent a mind-link to the beta. As soon as he mind-linked the beta, he was told to wait it out and Jack cut off the mind-link. Jack sighed and the pain of being cheated on almost pulled him down. They rarely heard of such when a couple is mated among their kind. He had waited for Nate to contact him as soon as Lyann left the house, a part of him still daring for all these to be either a lie or a dream, but rather, it has been confirmed. A lot of things began to make more sense to him now. All the while, he was disturbed that his wolf, Stan, never accepted Lyann. It was because Lyann never accepted him as her mate. He stood up, got ready and went straight to the main training ground and started doing lapses to burn off some steam, knowing it will take all he has not to rip off her head.

When Mark and Lyann were done, she quickly willed her wolf to heal the marks and scratches on her body. Well satisfied with herself, she turned to Mark and said her last plan regarding the beta failed but that she has one last opportunity to get it done before the watcher alpha arrives. Explaining the journey that Jack will be taking in two days’ time, she asked Mark to go to the northern border and pass the information to the rouges stationed just outside of the pack’s territory. He told him that once he exits the pack border, the rouges will certainly find him and all he has to say is “I am of Lyann” and he will be given an audience with their leader. Just as the first light of day began to filter through the leaves, both Lyann and Mark left the grove and both went the opposite direction. Lyann went to her usual lake to wash off Mark’s scent from her body, making sure to use the hidden soap she has there before going home. Nate couldn’t move even long after they had gone. What he had seen and heard shook both him and his wolf to the point of making him feel temporarily paralysed. As soon as he recovered, he ran straight for the pack, intending to warn the beta.

Talia’s POV

Waking up early as usual, I laid on the bed thinking about the incident that happened at dinner last night. It had probably been fun for everyone else but me. I couldn’t even seat down to take a bite of my food as I was busy waiting on Eva and she made sure I knew it. To make matters worse, Debbie and Amara had intentionally sought me out just to point out how well the position of a maid fit me.

Looking up at the ceiling with everywhere still dark, I tried to remember all my childhood dreams, how I had wanted to be a pack warrior. Papa was my very first trainer, always saying you have to train your body and put it inform before your wolf arrives. After papa, Nate had been my next trainer, training me as hard as he would a male wolf, but at eighteen when I did not get my wolf, I had been so devastated that I stopped training and only did exercise. Rolling over, I looked out the window and was sure I saw a figure disappearing into the forest. I quickly thought of Nate and wondered if recommending him to watch Mark was a good idea, knowing I will be heartbroken if anything were to happen to him. I prayed to the goddess to protect him because this assignment is actually dangerous. At the moment I recommended him, I was only thinking about the safety of the matter we were discussing, and I know Nate will protect it with his life. All he always wanted is to be known positively in this pack.

Around 5am I stood up and went into the bathroom for a quick shower, remembering Eva had told me last night after we came upstairs what she will have for breakfast. She said I have to be at her door with it by 8am, not 7:59am or 8:01am.

I dressed up and went downstairs to the kitchen. The cook and omegas were already preparing breakfast for the pack house. Quietly getting out the ingredients needed to make what Eva wants I started fixing her meal, in about an hour I was done preparing the meal and proceeded to make the fresh juice she had demanded, by 7:40am she was done with the breakfast and quickly went upstairs. Looking at the time, she stood at Eva’s door until it was exactly 8:00 and knocked. She opened the door and smiled at Talia. Well, just in time, someone seems to know just how to follow instructions.

Talia put the tray down and asked Eva if she needed any other thing for now, to which she asked her to run her a bath and leave. As she was leaving, Eva stopped her and asked her to be back exactly after an hour and a half. Talia quickly calculated that to be 10:05am. She went back to the kitchen to grab her own breakfast and was just finishing up around 8:50 when luna Abigail walked in. ‘

Good morning luna’ she greeted.

She responded and asked that I see her in the alpha’s office when I am done. I hurriedly did my dishes, drank my usual amount of morning warm water, and went straight to the alpha’s office.

Third person’s POV

That morning, the luna woke up earlier than her usual time even though she had slept late. Her thoughts were centered on how to keep her pack safe. She remembered when Jack had first told them about his intentions to mate with Lyann years ago. She had had mixed feelings because Jack was mated to her late sister, who had died in an attack along with her little daughter, who was Abigail’s niece. She knew Jack had to have another mate but was still hurt to see someone else playing the role of her sister. As time passed, she had buried those feelings and instead focused on her mate, children, nephew and pack. Tragedy struck yet again, claiming her nephew and Jack almost went farel, it had taken time to bring him back, and Lyann had been there for him too. That was why she made up her mind to draw Lyann close, despite being reminded of her only sibling whenever they carried out any pack related assignments.

Sensing his mate’s worries even in his sleep, the alpha woke up and gathered her close, inhaling her scent. She was still as beautiful as the first day he noticed her in the pack laughing with her sister. Both he and Jack had fallen in love with both of them instantly. When they both ended up being mated to them, the four of them had been inseparable, going everywhere and doing everything together. When Amelia, whom they all fondly called Lia, had died along with her daughter, his mate had been inconsolable. She had become attached to Lia’s son Evin and almost died when he, too, had gotten killed. Abigail had turned into a ghost of her former self since then. Only talking when spoken to and totally withdrawn into her self, he knows she does her best for their children and the pack but how he always wishes to have his carefree mate back.

After holding her for a while, he asked her what the matter was, and she replied that the fact they had traitors in their pack was keeping her awake. As alpha Alex was reassuring her, Jack mind-linked him, knowing he will be awake. He told him Nate had just confirmed their suspicion, so they decided to meet at his office after breakfast. He told Abigail what Jack just told him and asked her to please play it normal with Lyann until they decide on what to do with her, but what they both agreed on was to keep Lyann away from Eva. Abigail then suggested to her mate to invite all those that are aware of the situation to the meeting, saying since they already know about what is going on there will be no need bringing in more people, but rather work with them. She gave an instance that Talia can keep a closer eye on Lyann whenever she is around Eva, to which the alpha agreed. He asked her to invite Talia to his office by 9am. Meanwhile, he will discuss with Jack on how to better handle the situation before they arrive. When they were done discussing, they got ready for the day. The alpha went to his office to meet with Jack and Abigail went to the pack house to seek out Talia. When the alpha and Jack met, he told him about Abigail’s suggestion of inviting those aware and Jack nodded to the plan and quickly mind-linked Nate to come to the alpha’s office by 9am.
