I roll over on my bed, blowing out a deep breath as the memories of the day in the forest taunt me mercilessly. I’d believed him, really, truly thought that he meant what he said. More fool me. I look up at the window of my room; the curtains are still open, and the night sky shines in through the panes. Jesus, what time even is it? I fumble for my phone that is plugged in on the small, chipped bedside table by my head, gasping as the screen flares to life, informing me that it’s five am. What the hell? I slept all afternoon and evening? Why didn’t mum wake me? I push up from the mattress, a blanket falling from my body and crumpling around my waist. I don’t remember pulling it over myself when I went to bed, but I quickly realise that it was probably Mum. I shake my head at the thought
