The hospital was huge and intimidating; it had loomed ahead of us long before we arrived, and walking towards the entrance felt imposing. I was glad that I had Blake beside me. It wasn’t that I needed him to speak for me or to do anything for me at all, it just made it so much easier to go through this with someone to share my concern with. I felt like people would take me a bit more seriously if I was there with him, too. I would just have looked like a lost child wandering around the hospital if I was alone. We approached the reception desk in the main building.
