I was staring blankly at the doctor as I waited for her to break whatever news she was about to give me about Brooke.
I hadn’t been sure whether she was a doctor or a nurse, but as we sat in the little room in the ICU she introduced herself as Dr. Dayanara Romero and she told us that she was an ‘intensivist physician’, which I guess meant that she was a doctor who was specially trained to work in the intensive care unit.
She asked us what our understanding of Brooke’s accident was, and whether we were both her siblings. I thought that was ridiculous because Blake looked nothing like me or Brooke, but I guess she just needed to know because they were strict about visitors and Blake wasn’t going to be allowed to come in with me to see Brooke.
