Rise of the Hybrid Princess

      Aura POV:

    I heard the sound of an annoying alarm... And Tada… I was awakened in my bed. 

    Oh, Jesus Christ… I almost thought it was true… She tried to remember the face of the man with fangs… Hmm… now I don't remember anything about him except his thin rosy lips with silver fangs… not bad, he was so devilishly handsome… I thought with a smile. Another one to the collection of my weird dreams. But this was the best as a super hot guy was present in it. Damn it, the alarm came at the crucial moment. Was he about to kiss me or... Kill me??... No way. If he wanted to kill me, then he wouldn't be protecting me anyway. I felt so stupid to think and argue with myself about the weird dream. Hm... I should get up now, or else I will be late for school. I already have many pending assignments at school. I quickly freshened up and wore my uniform.

    I went down to check if mom had reached home last night. Hm… And surprisingly, she was there in her room. I am sure she drank enough to sleep until noon. I quickly prepared a bread sandwich for breakfast. I didn't have much time left, so I rushed to school. Then I noticed a faded handprint-like thing on my wrist. Hmm… I don't know when it happened, or even when I reached back home. I was so tired that my mind blacked out. School, a job at the bar and the household chores and everything, are taking a toll on me that I can't even remember things nowadays. I need a release from this breaking life.

 Somehow, I have to manage this year here. I have saved enough money for college by working as a waitress at night. But, what concerns me more was my mother. She was insisting on moving to some other place where she was grown-up. I have never visited that place or even heard of it. Maybe after completing college, I would be happy to move there. Like a fresh new start. Hm… I have to convince her somehow to stay here until then … But what can I say? She is more stubborn than me.

    I almost ran to the bus stop. But I was a little late. The bus had already gone. The next bus was after thirty minutes. Or else I should take a cab, but it is too expensive for me. Damn it, again I am going to be late. After a few minutes, a black Audi stopped in front of me. It was Cyrus, the hero of the school or, should we say, a playboy..!! He is more handsome and manly than any guy in school that the girls throw themselves at him. Dating him was a big status among girls. But I was never impressed by those things.

    I know he had hooked up with almost every girl, and the only virgin left was me. Because of some stupid challenge, he wanted to win over me too before the end of high school life, which is in two months. So he is hardly trying to please me. But I always ignore him.

    " Hey Aura, you want a lift??" He asked with his usual flirtish smile.

   Normally, I would have rejected the offer. Hm, I know there was no other way I could reach there on time. So I agreed and hopped in. When I stepped in, he gave a cheerful smile at me. Hmm, maybe he thought that I was going to fall for his charms... Not so easy, boy!! He was trying his usual lame tricks of words, but what can I say, I am more mature than that… When life gives you more difficulties, the stronger you become… So I can say, I am much stronger than any fellow teenager of my age…I either ignored his words or merely replied to his questions.

"Aura, you just made me happy by accepting my offer. I know you must have heard bad things about me. But, and most of them are true too..."

My eyes widened at his words. Before he could say any further, we had reached the school.

    When I stepped out of his car, the whole school was watching us. But before he could say or do anything to give a show, I muttered thanks and strode inside, then went towards my locker. For the first session, I went to the Physics lab. I didn't have the time to prepare my experiment record. But as I know our Physics Teacher went on maternity leave, I thought this time would be free. That's when Hailey came to my side. She is my best friend. The only person who cares about me in this town.

    "Hey Aura, I heard you came with Cyrus today??" She asked with a cheesy smile.

    I rolled my eyes and answered.

    "Oh, the news flies so much faster than we do… Yes, I missed my bus and had to accept a favour from him."

    "Hm… Better be careful, you know he won't give up that easily. It's like his prestigious issue… It's not because I am his cousin, but he is a good guy apart from this bad boy nature. Maybe after finishing school, you can try dating him… I know when we were little, he had a crush on you…" She winked at me.

    "Haha… Very funny… The hero of the college is having a crush on a waitress…!!" I laughed at her new findings.

    "Hm… why?? Is that forbidden to happen??" She was not in a mood to give up. So I have to.

    "Hailey, let's leave the topic, please. " I showed her my puppy eyes and she smiled.

Then she rolled her eyes at me. Then she leaned in and said,

    "Hey, have you seen the new Physics Teacher… That is the hottest topic on the school WhatsApp group… other than your ride today…"

    "Oh really?? What's so special about it??" I asked with confusion.

    "He, himself, is special …!!" She blushed.

    "He is so... hot to handle… I only got a glimpse of him…. And I can say, he is the real man… every girl could dream… Why do you think these girls are prepped with their makeup on?? They know he will be here at any moment…" she exclaimed. Then I noticed everybody looked like they were going to have a party, even Hailey!!… hm… so she must be right… I was in thoughts when I heard everyone wishing "good morning…" in a very cheerful tone alone with some aww sound…. Here comes the hottie Hailey mentioned. Why are these girls making a fuss about a hot guy? There is plenty of fish in the sea, right!!

    Then I turned around and my eyes locked with him… Holy Freak... Now I know, I can't blame those girls... He looked…. Awesome... Very charming…. And so hot too. I could agree, but somewhere he seems to be familiar with me. He introduced himself as Drake. He is here as a temporary teacher. I was thinking hard about where I saw him. 

Then some girl asked without shame, 

"Mr Drake, do you have a girlfriend??"

As in response, he smiled slightly and said, 

"No…!!" And we heard girls squealing and whispering in between. Then soon Mr Drake changed the subject and turned into studies. But when I noticed him checking the records of each student, I started to get nervous. Mine was incomplete… oh damn… I know, if he checks my records, he may get mad.

    I started copying from Hailey, but it was her turn soon. All the beauties had endless doubts about the experiments, whereas when the previous teacher was there, there were no doubts at all. And the boys seem a little irritated that no girls pay attention to them now. All of them are fully focused on this new teacher.

The teacher was calling students one by one.

    "Aura…" I heard him call my name.

    I stood up and walked to him. He took the book from me and started checking it. I started to panic as I knew the most handsome man in this school was going to shout at me for not completing the record. I was preparing myself to hear it out, that is when he looked at me.

    "Why are these experiments unfinished?? Is there anybody else in the same situation??" He asked in a normal tone. Everybody said no, and they were ready to enjoy the show of me getting scolded.

I started to get tense and flushed with embarrassment at the thought of getting scolded.

    "I… have skipped a few classes for some personal reasons… I could not participate in a few experiments… I am sorry sir, I.."

My words were cut in between by him. His piercing eyes were locked with mine so that I paused in the middle and was almost stuttering.

    "Okay, as I can see, most of your experiments are incomplete and you haven't done any of them. I suggest you do all this in a short time. But, I don't want to waste others' time on you either. So, on the day of weekly morning lab sessions, you must spend extra hours in the evening to complete the pending experiments. The exam is at the end of next month, so before that, everything should be ready. Okay??" He said it was a normal thing.

    I heard many of them sigh as they didn't get this chance. But, I was worried about being alone with him...It's not that he is going to harm me… But, as Hailey said, being too hot to handle. Even with all these students being here, his closeness makes me restless. I could only nod at him. And when I came back to my seat, Hailey said, 

    "Oh shit, I should have missed a few lab classes as well… such a lucky bitch you are!!.."

    I could hear the same emotion around the girls. Some of them even looked at me enviously. That is when I heard the queen bee Melissa saying, 

    "That lucky bitch got Cyrus in her pockets… Now Mr Drake… Is she a waitress or a…" she paused, then her minions laughed. I just glared at them. I know there is no use fighting with them as they think all the girls are only like them. Hm…

After the lab session, I aI Hailey had different sessions, so we parted our ways. And when I got into my next class, I saw Cyrus standing in the corridor along with Melissa, who was giving a show of her perfect tits in the tight top she wore. Melissa glared at me, whereas Cyrus had a smile. Not a grin, not a smirk, but a normal smile. I ignored them both and went to my seat. But as the class was about to start, I saw Cyrus coming and sitting next to me. He usually sits in the back row, but what happened now? I saw the whole class watching in our direction.

"What do you want, Cyrus??" I asked him.

"What?? I was just sitting here. Do you have any problem??"

After hearing this, I didn't ask anything further. To my surprise, Cyrus didn't disturb me at all except sneak peeks at me.

On the lunch break, I sat with Hailey in our regular spot. Then Hailey eyed them in that direction and said, 

"Looks like the bad boy is not going to give up that easily…" and when I turned around, I saw Cyrus walking toward the direction.

"He is your cousin, why can't you tell him not to involve me in those stupid challenges…" I whispered to her.

"You know how stubborn he can be."

As Cyrus came and joined our table, I felt uneasiness. But he didn't act like a jerk, instead, he was talking and teasing Hailey. This side of him is not bad. But you can't trust a bad boy. He would do anything to win the bet.

    The rest of the day went as normal except for Cyrus trying to interact with me. It was weird as heck. But he was trying to act sweeter with me. Sessions were done in a blur and it was time for my special lab session with Mr Drake...

    Hailey wished me luck and I went to the lab. He wasn't there, so I went inside and waited for him. After a few minutes, I got bored, and I started roaming around there. As I heard someone enter, I turned around and stumbled… I fell backwards and I closed my eyes ready to endure the pain in my back. But soon, a strong arm took me by my waist… When I opened my eyes, I saw Mr Drake…. And when my eyes landed on his lips… those thin pink lips looked so familiar… Then, it struck me...the dream… the vampire...my eyes widened in shock, by that time Mr Drake balanced me on my foot.

    "Are you hurt??" His magnetic voice made me awake from the deep thought I was in.

    "No Sir, I am okay… Thanks…" I muttered while struggling to calm my racing heart...!!

I must be really going crazy…!!
