Ascension Island
All the populated islands of the Seychelles lay a few degrees south of the Equator rising from shallow banks as huge granite rocks. The small rugged island of Ascension rises steeply out of the water with little or no beach. As a consequence it has rarely been inhabited. Lying a little to the south of Cap Temoy off the Port Launey Marine Park, it covers an area of sixty hectares and lies within easy reach of the Island of Mahe, the largest in the Archipelago. Its inaccessible nature was exactly suited to Giovanni’s needs. He chuckled as he thought of the Elders still trying to find Fabrizio; his assumed name and one around which he had laid a complex web.
