The deafening crack of gunfire echoed through the air, the sounds of struggle giving way to a chilling silence. Riley stood over the fallen body of Alpha Burno, her face a steely mask of determination.
As Burno lay wounded on the ground, blood seeping from his injuries, he uttered a rasping warning.
"This war isn't over," he hissed, his voice dripping with venomous rage.
Riley, unmoved by his threat, raised her gun once more. "Mark my words," he retorted, her voice cold as ice, as he coughed out blood.
With those final words, Riley pulled the trigger, the resounding shot ringing out like a death knell for Burno's sinister reign.
