“Xena!” I cry out in horror when she jumps in front of me, taking the flood of bullets meant for me. I catch her before she falls and lay her on the ground.
“No! This is not what is supposed to happen!” Ryan yells before dropping the gun and shaking. “Xena, why would you jump in front of a bullet for him? Why?”
“Simple. He is my best friend, my husband and mate. I love him,” she responds with a faint voice.
“He did not deserve you. We could have lived happily together. You could have been my Luna. You could have been mine!”
Ryan is still yelling like a mad man when Clint takes over and snaps his neck. I drop on my knees as soon as Clint lets me take over. He does not just let me take over but completely shuts off. He does not want to witness this.
