Jaden and I were cuddled on the couch watching a movie when the front door suddenly swung open, and a whirlwind of energy burst into the living room. I barely had time to register the familiar sounds of excited chatter before I was enveloped in a flurry of bodies. Carrie, Sammy, Mike, and Will were excited to be back home, and my heart swelled at the sight of them. I had missed the kids.
“Dad! You won’t believe all the things we did!” Will exclaimed, just as Kathy and Brian came into the living room. I hurriedly switched off the TV as everyone got comfortable on the couch.
