His vision blurred, darkness creeping in at the edges, and then, he slumped forward, his weight collapsing against the steering wheel. The car jerked violently. Jace cursed under his breath, quick hands gripping the wheel before disaster struck. He slammed the brakes, the tires screeching against asphalt, and reached across to pull Damien back into the passenger seat. “Christ, boss,” Jace muttered, dragging the heavy man away from the horn. Damien’s skin was clammy, his breaths shallow, his usual iron strength reduced to weakness. For a second, panic flickered through Jace’s eyes but only for a second.
