"Lady Winters? Are you okay?"
"Lord Walton, I'm glad you turned around, thank you"
You're so relieved that he's the one that found you along the road that you fall into his arms and hugs him tightly.
"Where were you? The King has been looking all over for you?"
Joy and happiness fill your being with the thought that the man of your dreams notice that you were gone and that he send someone to look for you. You wonder if the princess knows that he send someone to look for you and if Lord Walton is the only one that knows. The question remains, what does Lord Walton know?
"I've been kidn*pped and found a way to escape"
"Oh god, Lady Winters, that's terrible. Let's get you into the carriage and you can tell me all about it?"
"I'm so glad you're here, Lord Walton. Thank you again"
He holds you around your waist and guides you to the carriage. You get into the carriage and watch as it drives away from the place youll always see as a place of b*****e. You smile to yourself just being happy to be free and being able to breathe fresh air.
"Here, you must be thirsty?"
"Yes, thank you so much"
Lord Walton hands you a glass of water. You feel the water going down your throat and you can't believe how lucky you are that Lord Walton found you. You lay back with your head against the soft wall of the carriage and close your eyes for a while.
"So what happened to you Lady Winters?"
You open your eyes and then you realize that of course, he doesn't know what happened to you and he must be very curious. You try to think back as to how it happened but you can't remember where it all started but then it comes back to you. You were giving the King a surprise visit and then that's when you felt the pain in your head.
You can't very well tell Lord Walton that you were in the King's courters but then again, the King did trust him enough to go looking for you. You decide to play it safe and say you can't remember how it all happened except that you were tied up for almost a day.
"Did you see the person that kidn*pped you?"
"No, no, I didn't. I was blindfolded the entire time"
"Are you sure didn't see anyone or something that might give you a clue to who it was?"
"No, I'm sorry that I can't be of any help"
He sighs loudly and then smiles at you.
"I completely understand, Lady Winters, it must have been quite an ordeal for you?"
You think back to being tied up mere minutes ago and a fear grips your being. You feel yourself starting to relive those moments when Lord Walton speaks.
"I'm sorry, Lady Winters. We wouldn't talk of this again, please, close your eyes, you seem tired"
You take a deep breath and lay your head against the wall, closing your eyes. You want to rest but your thoughts consume you. You close your eyes but you hear everything around you and you feel the trip being quite far from your accommodation.
You arrive at your cottage and you sit up straight.
"Thank you, Lord Walton, your assistance is something I'll never forget"
He smiles and helps you to your door.
"Shall I send for the doctor?"
"No, thank you, Lord Walton. I just need some sleep please?"
"Of course, Milady"
He turns and walks away. You open your door and peace fills your thoughts. Happiness and joy aren't far behind. You walk towards your bed and fall on it. You don't feel the pain radiating from your wrists, you're just happy that your safe again. But then an ugly thought jumps into your thinking.
(Am I safe?)
THE KING
He knows that he shouldn't experience emotional stress but he can't help thinking that there could be something seriously wrong with you. He takes out a pill in his jacket pocket as he remembers your words that he needs to look after himself. He quickly drinks it without anyone seeing him. Then he tries to get back to the festivities but his heart remains with you.
"Your Highness"
He turns around and sees Lord Walton bow before him. He almost smiles at his presence and then leads him away from the crowd. He stands close to Lord Walton and almost whispers.
"What news do you bring?"
"I have great news indeed, sire!"
"Then out with it?!"
"I have found Lady Winters, sire"
He jumps at his words. His heart fills with joy and excitement that he could be seeing his one true love again.
"Where is she? Tell me now??"
"She went back to her courters, Sire"
He turns around and almost runs but he's stopped by Lord Walton. "Sire!" He turns around in total irritation.
"What is it now? Lord Walton?"
"Sire, she…she…"
"Out with it, man!"
"She's not completely well, sire"
He feels his entire being going into shock at his words.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, sire, she's hurt"
(f**k! What happened to her?)
He feels a raging fire filling his being and he can't seem to see straight or hear anything but the sound of his own beating heart. He'll kill a man with his bare hands if something would've happened to her. He doesn't spend another second with him and runs to her cottage. He stops just short of her door and looks around him if someone is watching but he knows no one is close by as everyone is at the festivities.
He gathers himself and tries not to be out of breath. He knocks on the door.
"Who is it?"
He hears your sweet voice call out and he can't help but smile. "It's me, James"
It's only a few seconds after he's announced himself that you open the door and what he sees destroys him. Your face is filled with mascara marks of all your tears and your lips are cracked. Your wrists have dry blood on them and your clothes are torn from running through the fields. He walks into the room and closes the door. He envelopes you with his strong arms and holds you tight to his chest.
"f**k Angel! Who did this to you? What happened?"
