Vedant I am walking through the hospital doors when the pain jolts through me. It lances me, momentarily making me nearly bend double. It comes seemingly from nowhere, piercing through my bones and taking me by surprise. I have no idea what might have caused it, and it takes me a moment to compartmentalize it and push it aside. Whatever the cause for it, the pain was not stirred on by outside stimuli. I have not fallen or been suddenly taken ill. With some effort, I am able to ignore it until it is just a distant hum in the background of my swirling thoughts. Still, it’s… weird. Perhaps it’s just nerves.
