The drive to Victoria was beautiful, the road winding through dense forests, giving way to wide-open stretches where the ocean sparkled under the sunlight. Ruby sat beside me, tapping her nails against her phone in time with the music playing softly through the car. She hummed along, her face relaxed, her dark hair pulled back and her sunglasses perched on her head. Ruby Reign, Hollywood’s sweetheart, the actress everyone seemed to love.
