A New Beginning

The day after the funeral felt heavy, as though the grief from the day before had seeped into the air itself. The house was quiet, but not in the same mournful way as before. This was the silence of people retreating into their own corners of sorrow, their own ways of coping.
I had made my decision. I was leaving for Scotland today with Arya. My father’s estate, the one he had left me, would be a fresh start. A place to find peace and rebuild, away from the tangled emotions and history of London.
