“So Rosie, you know that Gus is my protector and what that means right” I asked her as we were eating.
“Yes mam, I know he is your protector, but I’m not sure exactly what that means” she answered
honestly. Aerie spoke up “Basically, it means that no matter what, Dream will always be first in his life.
He cannot and will not choose you over her. He is bound to her forever. Their bond is stronger than our
mate bond. So you either have to accept that or you have to reject him now”. Gus hung his head down.
HE didn’t say a word because he knew what Aerie had said was the truth. He didn’t want to be rejected
by Rosie, but if she couldn’t accept what it meant,, he would rather be rejected now. Rosie sat there
silent for a minute. Everyone waited to hear her answer. She looked between Nathan and me, then to
Aerie and Brian. “May I ask a question,” Rosie asked me. “Of course you may” I answered. She looked at
Nathan and Aerie “At the end of the day, how do the two of you feel about your marriage? Is it
everything that you always wanted, or does the protector thing get in the way?” she asked. Whoa that was a loaded question I thought. I wasn’t quite sure that I wanted to know the answer that Nathan had
to give honestly.
Aerie was the first to answer and Brian held gis breath as she did. I could feel is nervousness and how
scared he was of her answer He was feeling the same as I was. “Well honestly speaking, it feels like it
should be. I knew what I was getting in to the moment I accepted Brian. I accepted Dream and the others at
the same time. For Brian and myself we both put Dream first and we both will protect her to our fullest
capability. It naturally clicked for all of us for the most part, and Dream accepted me right away as part
of her inner circle. So at the end of the day, yes my marriage to Brian is everything that I thought it
would be, because I went into it with open eyes and not visions of a fantasy where it would always be
rainbows and unicorns “ Aerie explained. I loved her answer. It fit the scenario perfectly. Rosie did need
to know that she had to accept the way it would be in Order for her to be happy. Now it was Nathan’s
turn as everyone looked at him. I closed my link off, not wanting anyone to feel the fact that o was
indeed afraid of what his answer would be. "We had no clue what life held in store for us when we
accepted each other, and it was a lot of adjusting to do. Unlike Aerie and Gus, Dream and I started out completely blind and unknowing of anything. When we met, it was at her old pack, and she had just been lashed and was in the hospital. She was still Jenna. I thought those three were just these big, over protective brothers. But then she refused to leave with
me unless they came as well. That was when I knew had to accept them as part of our life if I wanted to
be with Dream. So that’s when I refused to go back as well until we were certain that they could stay
too. None of us knew what we were signing up for,and we sure the hell didn’t know all of this was going
to happen. The one thing we all did know Is that we loved Dream and would do absolutely anything for
her including giving up our life. Now does that stop me from wanting to kill them when they all come
barreling into our room and jumping on the bed to wake us up, no. But would I, absolutely not. I trust
Dream's life in their hands and I know that she is safe as long as they are with her. I would now give up
my life for one of them, because of that reason. So as Aerie answered at the end of the day, yes my life
with Dream is everything I want and more.” He answered. I hadn’t realized I had tears falling down my
face as I heard his answer until he very sweetly wiped my tears and pulled me into his lap hugging me.
“I love you” I told him, “I love you too” he answered. “AWW” the others said together.
“Wow, I didn’t expect to hear answers like that. I honestly thought I would have heard how one gets in
the way or something. But there is not a drop of resentment or regret in either one of your answers.”
Rosie said as she looked at Gus and took his hand. She smiled at him softly and said “I accept you Gus as
my mate”
Gus jumped up out of his seat with Rosie in his arms and began spinning her around happily. We all
cheered for the both of them. I looked at Zade who really wasn’t saying a word, but just watching them.
I could feel the loneliness he felt and it hurt me knowing how he felt. “If she is out there Zade, we will
find her” I told him by link as I smiled at my best friend. “Thank you” he answered back.
“Well it looks like we will be having another royal wedding. I’ll let my mother know” I announced
happily. Gus and Rosie stopped and looked at me . “Oh don’t even think about it Gus. If we had to go
through with it, then you do too. All is fair in love and war. Rosie, where is your family from” I asked her
as I was laughing at Gus. “They are dead. My parents were killed in an accident when I was a baby, and I
was brought here” she answered. I looked at her strangely. Alarms were going off in my head when she
said that. She was the same age as all of us, then it dawned on me why alarms were going off. I jumped out of my seat quickly. I excused myself from the table without any explanation and ran to my office
locking the door behind me. I grabbed a box of the ledgers that were at the witch’s house that gave the
information about the stolen babies. Zade and the others were banging on my office door threatening to
knock it down. I ignored them as I continued to flip through the boxes. Aerie suddenly appeared in front
of me, scaring me to death. I forgot she was a vampire and could shimmer.
