As dawn broke, I woke with the sun barely shining through my window, every muscle aching. I forced myself out of bed, dressed, and headed downstairs to fill my water bottle before slipping quietly out the back door, not wanting to wake anyone. I started jogging through the woods, every muscle screaming at me to stop, but I refused. After half an hour, I reached an old training clearing—now overgrown and forgotten. Talon was already there, waiting. “Right on time.” He said. “Just like every morning.” I replied. “Ready for this?” “Nope.
