Later, close to dawn, I woke up as though a gun had gone off. My heart was pounding. Nightmare? I couldn’t remember. But the sky was still dark. I needed a glass of a water and maybe a Tylenol. Where was Lei? I untangled myself out of the sheets and went to the washroom to clean up. After I’d popped a pill and quenched my thirst, I slipped on a pair of boxers and went looking for him.
