I didn’t have to wait too long for the jewelry place to open.
I was the first in the store.
I walked out and placed the necklace box in my shorts.
Lou was settled in my head. He wanted to see Sage.
I ran back through town and the forest.
I felt a mind link come through, which made me holt.
I was avoiding him.
It was my father.
I opened the link.
“Austin,” my father bellowed. “Where are you? You were supposed to be here over an hour ago.”
I stared ahead and looked around at the forest. I was back in the territory.
“I know,” I muttered. “I didn’t check the time when I left.”
My father growled.
“You are unreasonable," he grunted.
"I'm not," I gritted. “I needed to clear my head after what happened last night, or did you forget what we were talking about?”
