Chapter 17

Damien

Hearing Vanessa screaming in her dreams scared me half to death. As soon as she started Her mom, brother, dad and some old man came running in. After a minute or two she snapped her eyes open and looked at us in terror as she crawled away from us on the floor. I felt a slight pain in my chest at that. By the time she had calm down with just me and her mom in room I thought she would have passed out from being so exhausted from the screaming and crying. She told us what happened and I looked at her mom with shock. Her mom was scared. Something wasn’t right. I promised we would not lose each other and I meant it. In my arms she fell asleep, every time I tried to move away she would hold on tighter to me. He brother came in and I sat up but she wrapped her arm around my waist as I kept my hand on her. She seems calmed by this knowing I was still right there with her. “What happened?” Lam asked looking behind me at his sister tucking a hair behind her ear. “She saw a man kill us, she didn’t get to us in time to stop it and we all died. Me, you, Marcus, Megan and her mom. Then she said after that her wolf died and a dark entity took her over and her and that man started taking over tribes but killing them.” He sat there. “Mom was shaken and so was the Elder. The warrior meeting where she tells the chief about your marking and mating will discuss this.” “Did you hear anything or did they say anything to you?” “Just that this is dark dealings and very bad.” He said I rubbed her arm. “Will we be able to join the meeting?” He nodded. “Let us know when its time. I cant leave her, she also has a very tight grip on me.” I said smiling down at her. “Sure thing.” He said standing and leaving. I removed her arm as she groaned, “I just need to use the restroom ill be right back.” Her eyes fluttered open and nodded. She let go but gripped the bed tightly. I went into the bathroom but kept the door open for her sake. This dream or vision she had turned my strong Mate, for the first time ever she was scared and frightened. I felt sad to see her like that but she was scared for her family. After I finished I walked out and she had not looked away from the door. I sat on the edge of bed as she released her grip and lifted her arm I slid in next to her and held her close. I didn’t know what to say to comfort her, but I knew just from our bond that me being here was enough. Soon we both fell asleep.

Vanessa

I woke up when Liam came in and told us it was time for the meeting. I got  up slowly and dressed, noticing Damien didn’t take his eyes off me. After I dressed I walked over to him before he put his shirt on and wrapped around him, my front pressed firmly to his back and my hands on his chest. I placed a kiss on his back a couple times. “Im sorry. I don’t know why it made me so scared.” I kissed his back one more time. He turned around and slipped his arms around me. “you never have to be sorry about being scared of losing us, but we don’t plan on leaving you by yourself any time soon.” he kissed my forehead as we hugged before walking out.

         As we walked out and met my family in the yard before going to the meeting house, I hugged each one to make sure they really were there still. We walked to the building where our meeting would be held. I had a tight grip on Damiens hand, he didn’t seem to mind though. As we walked in all the Tribe warriors were there waiting. We took our seats with Damien besides me My dad next to my mom and Liam. This was the first time we had outsiders in our meeting. After a few minutes the Chief and Elders walked in and took their seats. Carlos was sat in there very back glaring in our direction. Even though he was stripped of his high warrior status he was still one and welcomed to be here. “Hello my honorable warriors. We are here today to as summon by our wolf warrior and to discuss a potential problem. Vanessa please step forward.”

I stood up suddenly feeling very nervous and shy. “Wolf god give me strength.” I mumbled to myself as I walked and stood in front of these elders. I bowed to them before beginning. “I have asked you here today to inform you and this Tribe that I have found what the wolves call their mates. The one the moon goddess has blessed each wolf with. My soul mate. I do not plan on rejecting him, which means I will no longer be the next to take over this Tribe. I will remain with him as his Luna of his Pack.” I stated firmly and spoke loud so every warrior could hear. “As wolf warrior you do not get a choice you are bound by the law of the gods to protect and serve this pack.” One stood and spoke to me. “Everyone has a choice and mine is to remain with him. If the gods see fit to take away my warrior then so be it.” The was talking and arguing all around us when the Eldest of our elders stood. He was a man of few words, as the eldest he was over 100 years old. Warriors same as wolfs age slow and live for a long time. He held up his hand as everyone stopped. “You have been marked and mated by this young Alpha?” I pulled my shirt to show my mark. As he did his to show my mark on his neck. “Please bring forth the wolf warrior so this council may speak directly to her.” I nodded and in a focus I felt her jolt forward. The difference between her and my warrior is she comes fully tattooed and With the head and hide of a wolf on her head draped across her back. She has full war make up on. “Sirs” She said slowly bowing her eyes glowing. “Wolf warrior is a pleasure to meet you again. A fine young warrior you have chosen as your home. But tell us, Do your gods agree with her choice? Will she be able to remain with you and her mate and still do bidding for the tribe as she has made an oath.” He said. “Her loyalty to the Tribe is to be unquestioned as she was ready to reject her mate for her fated warrior. It was mine and the gods decision to keep them together. She will be able to hold to her oath and be a Luna the world of wolves has ever seen before. As for her vision, Elder. This Tribe will be closer to the dark soon. She is the only one to bring back the light, she will have to make the choice of her life or her families. If she chooses her own life the Brothers will be awakened to settle this. If she chooses her families, you will lose a big piece of her that will be brought back. She will not be the same Vanessa.” I came back to the surface. All eyes on me. I sat back down. The chief recounted what my dream was to everyone and the whispers happened. “Everyone must keep their guard up and protect each other, we do not know who these people are. If you hear or see anything let us know we need to put a stop to this.” The chief said as we all stood to leave. My life or theirs, it was an easy choice theirs over mine any day.
