Chapter 5

Damien

I was standing there as she ran from me. I left the garage and saw she left the beer on the island. Liam walked downstairs looked around and said pizzas here. “Not hungry in fact I’m not feeling great I’m going to go home.” I said walking out past the guy bringing the pizza and headed to my car and drove home. I got home and went to my room and locked myself in it as I paced. Was I stupid? Did she not feel it? Was it just me? Why was she so against a wolf mate? I laid on my bed and decide to send her a text.

“Im sorry for what happened. I thought you felt the same as me. Please forgive me.” 

I rolled over and fell asleep. Dreams of her warrior and her wolf being pulled away toward her destiny and away from me woke me fequently though the night. It was always the same id fall asleep and the same nightmare and the same spot would jolt me awake. I was awake way before training started. My father was surprised to see me downstairs in the kitchen drinking some coffee. “Couldn’t sleep?” He asked “Nightmares.” He nodded. “Well training should help tire you out enough you will be too tired for dreams or nightmares.” “That’ll be nice.” He nodded toward the car and I rose from my chair and we walked to the car

The training ground already buzzing with warriors. I spotted Vanessa right away. Wearing her short shorts, a yellow shirt with her hair pulled into a high ponytail that was straight and shiny. She was stretching and talking with Liam and Evan. She looked sad. Usually she was smiling and laughing. She sat with her legs bent, arms wrapped around her knees. she said something to her brother and then put her head down. He kneels toward her and gave her a hug, Evan rubbed her back which cause anger inside me and my wolf. I walked over to the coolers and saw some of the “wolf elite” As they called themselves there. I guess they came to watch and stake claim like they always did before parties. “Hey Damien, hope I see you and see you later at the party.” Lilly said to me winking. I knew what she meant I just looked at her like she was speaking another language. 

“Who wants to spar first?” I asked stepping forward “Hand to hand” “Are we fighting you?” A warrior asked. I nodded. No one stepped up. “Vanessa. Lets go.” I said. She sighed and stood. Liam stepped and whispered something, she shook her head and side stepped him. She cracked her neck and stepped into the circle as I took off my shirt. “Ready” “yes alpha.” God I hated that. I nodded. We circled for a few second my eyes on her but she kept hers on my legs. My wolf growled in my head. I went to strike. She dodged and brought her elbow to the back of my head. “s**t” I thought as I stumbled forward but didn’t fall. Going back to stance I was able to get forward grab her wrist and spin her so her back was to my front I pulled her arms tight over her chest as she struggled. “Can escape now. You will be mine Vanessa, I don’t want these other she wolves. Ju..” before I could finish she brought her head back and smashed into my face. When I looked back to her she was crouched. “You forget Damien. I’m your top warrior for a reason, no hold you could ever get me in I cant get out of Alpha.” She spit Alpha with so much venom in her voice. She only called me that when something was wrong. She jumped and as I tried to grab her mid air… big mistake. I ended up being flipped and on my back. She ended up straddling my chest he elbows on my arms and one hand around my throat. “is this good enough for a win?” She asked. I nodded, she rolled off me and walked back to her brother. Getting a nod from her dad and mine. “Son you are letting your emotions take control. As warriors we must remember to force our emotions down to our core. We get distracted, we get sloppy, we get killed. “Yes alpha” everyone said. How am I supposed to do that when she invades my every thought. I looked at her as I sauntered my way to join the rest.
