My head was pounding. Keith stirred, his small body heavy against my side. I looked around, my eyes blurry. We were deep in the forest. Cain. He had carried us here. On his wolf form. I remembered flashes Keith clinging to me, whimpering softly. But most of everything was a blank, a dark hole in my memory. I finally found Cain standing a few feet away, his back to us, looking into the dense forest. I don’t know how far he carried us but it must’ve been very far. “Cain,” I croaked, my voice raspy.
