“KALEA!” Renee screamed. She and Tobias couldn’t wait for Benny to exit the driver’s seat, and Tobias had practically ripped open the back door. They didn’t even wait for Kalea to get out of the car. Tobias reached in and pulled her out. Kalea burst into tears as she was caught in her parents’ embrace. Tobias pulled away, and Renee grabbed Kalea’s face. “Oh, let me see you, sweetheart. Are you okay? Did that bastard hurt you?”
“No, he didn’t.”
“You swear!?”
“Yeah, Mom, I swear. He just dropped me off in a prison cell and then left me.”
“Darling, you look so thin!” Aimee exclaimed.
