"Great... It’s like I don’t even matter to her," Luther Steph whispered, watching her walk away. He hurried over, grabbed her hand, and pulled her closer to see if his closeness would affect her. Then something strange happened. His heart skipped a beat, then started beating faster. She didn’t react or blink. He let go of her hand and stepped back.
She stared at him for a moment before passing by without caring or responding to anything he did. It made him angry, but then there was a strange feeling that scared her.
Somewhere deep inside, he and his heart knew she was dangerous and he should stay away. Still, his heart ached to feel her.
Luther wanted to keep his mate close and control her. He wanted her to know she belonged only to him and couldn’t be near any other men. But then he smiled, realizing women like her could never be with someone like him. She didn’t deserve a mate like him. Deep down, Luther knew he was just trying to heal his pride, which she hurt many times by ignoring him. Also, he was forcing himself to hate her because of the strange feeling he had just felt. He was a little annoyed at how he was starting to be drawn to her even though he hadn’t seen her face yet. It was hidden behind a mask.
Luther growled, "Let's go kill that Adre. Also, I have to turn down that woman," grinding his teeth.
Micha smiled, hitting the sore spot in Luther’s pride. "Sure... It’s not like she’s interested in you."
Luther snapped, "Do you talk too much? If you weren’t my sister’s husband, I’d teach you a lesson for talking like that around me." He stormed toward the place the girl told Adre to go.
Micha asked, knowing his Alpha well, "Are you sure, Alpha? You want to kill him in front of her?"
"That’s exactly my plan. I want her to watch and shake with fear when I kill Adre. I want to scare her," Luther said, laughing like a devil.
Liam said, licking his lips, "You just want her to notice us at least once." His human didn’t answer and walked inside. There were many rooms, but using Liam’s power, Luther quickly caught her scent. He opened the door and saw Adre holding her.
Luther’s back was to him while the woman looked toward the door. Their eyes met again. Luther pulled out his gun and aimed at the woman, but she didn’t react. She stood there without any feelings. Then Luther fired two shots at Adre, killing his target while he hugged her. She shut her eyes as blood splattered on her face. She stepped back, and Adre’s body dropped to the floor.
Luther moved closer and noticed her clothes were stained with blood.
He smiled, then gently tapped her chin with the tip of his gun, trying to force her to look at him and scare her. But she stayed calm and didn’t react. Instead, she pushed his gun aside and walked past him toward a group of men entering the room.
“He’s so foolish... wasting two bullets like that,” she said quietly about Liam without even looking back at him. Liam clenched his jaw in anger and raised his gun at her again.
“Alpha, stop,” Micha said firmly, lowering his own weapon. He didn’t want his Alpha to harm a human, since it was against the rules in the world of werewolves.
The woman glanced at her men and gave a small signal for them to leave. They obeyed silently and exited the room. Then she turned back to look at Liam.
Liam grinned when she finally gave him the attention he craved. He started walking toward her, slowly taking off his coat. His eyes locked on hers with quiet intensity.
She didn’t move or show any sign of fear. Instead, her cold stare made him hesitate for a moment. Then she spoke softly, “You think this will frighten me? You’re just angry and lost.”
Liam’s smile faded slightly. He took a breath and said, “No... I want you to understand exactly what happens to anyone who stands in my way.”
The tension in the room grew thick. The men outside listened quietly, waiting for what would come next. The woman, seemed fearless and unshaken despite the blood and danger around her.
Liam reached out and gently touched her cheek, surprising himself with the tenderness. “You don’t know how much you’ve affected me,” he whispered. “And that scares me.”
Her eyes softened for a moment, then she stepped back and said, “Then stop wasting your time, Luther. You can’t control what you don’t understand.”
Liam nodded slowly, feeling a mix of anger and something else he couldn’t name. He put his coat back on and turned away, ready to face whatever was next in this dangerous game between them.
Liam moved closer to her, taking off his coat as he did. His heart beat faster when he noticed her reaction, but she kept her face calm and unreadable. He made her put on his coat and then pulled her close, gripping the collar firmly.
“Even when I don’t want to touch you, I want you to carry my scent,” he whispered softly into her ear. Then he suddenly pushed her back, almost making her lose her balance and fall. Liam took out a stack of money and threw it toward her.
“This is for the night Adre was going to pay you. At least you deserve it for catching my attention,” he said and walked away. Micha shook his head, disappointed by the childish actions of his Alpha.
“I wish you were still alive, Valentine,” Micha thought quietly. “He changed into a cold, broken man after losing you. If you were here, you would have taught him a lesson for speaking to another woman like that.”
Liam’s anger was clear, but deep down, something else was driving his feelings , pain and loss he tried to hide. she stood still, holding the money but not showing any emotion. The room was heavy with silence, and outside, their allies waited, unsure what would happen next.
