Eryx POV I resumed my relentless pacing. The worn carpet of my office did nothing to steady me in my boots. My mind, usually calm and controlled, refused to settle. Something was coming. I didn’t need a seer or a magician to tell me that. I could feel it in the charged silence of the forest, in the way the air itself seemed to hold its breath.
