LEIGH We got to the rental house before the van and intentionally, and I had us wait in the car. Jack thought I didn't have the keys or something, but that wasn't the case. The van finally arrived ten minutes later, and I got out of the McLaren then. Ava was the first to come down, and she let herself inside the house without a word. I followed behind her at a slower pace, Jack cluelessly blabbing beside me about songs on my playlist. I took off the sunglasses now that twilight had consumed the sky.
