Lacey was still floating over how the competition in music class had gone when she attended work the next day. Miranda was frantic as Sophie was sick and therefore Lacey was the only waitress and server as everyone else was unavailable for a host of reasons. Lacey reassured her that she would cope and sent her back to the office looking frazzled but relieved.
Her shift started off easily enough, the few customers in the cafe extremely polite and well mannered, their orders easy and quickly made. Lacey hummed as she bussed tables and answered queries, smiling at her customers and enjoying herself. Well at least she was until the door opened and a noisy crowd of teenagers entered the cafe, seating themselves in the booths and hollering loudly for a waitress.
