Fireworks painted the sky in vibrant bursts, echoing the celebratory cries of "Happy New Year!" across the cruise ship.
Laughter and cheers filled the air as passengers reveled in the first moments of the new year. Malakai, however, was the center of a different kind of spectacle.
Grinning smugly, he lit firework after firework, the explosions making the women around him shriek with a mix of excitement and feigned terror.
He let his hands roam over them, groping inappropriately, as his friends hooted and hollered.
It didn’t take long for the deck crew to approach, their professional smiles hiding their irritation. “Sir,” one of them began, “fireworks are prohibited on the cruise ship. We’ll have to ask you to stop.”
