Roxie Tries To Bust A Move

1397 Words
Jasper watched his mom cooking in the kitchen with Davon and laughed as he and Yvonne decorated cookies. Or he decorated. Yvonne was more of a mess maker as she got icing everywhere. He was in a better mood since talking to Alaia last night. Even though it was a call that skirted around all their issues, it was clear they both had needed it. The comfort of each other rather than answers to complicated questions best asked face to face.  Davon looked at Jasper rocking Yvonne in his arms as she began to sleep in the crook of his neck. One arm under her but, she was perfectly balanced as he decorated a cookie with another. “You’re good with her.” Davon complimented making Jasper grin, “Power of the big brother.” Yasmine giggled lightly as Lucy appeared with Roxie. Roxie grinned feeling the aww she was holding back seeing Jasper hold Yvonne. Looking down at the cute cookies their icing making them look like ornaments or trees almost professional. “Nice job,” she complimented as Yasmine took Yvonne to clean her up and lay her down. Jasper flexed halfheartedly as he joked, “Level ten cookie decorator over here folks.” Roxie giggled and as Jasper checked his phone, Lucy sent her friend a “seriously?” type look. But Roxie pretended to not see it as she peered at Jasper suspicious, “You seem to be in a good mood today Jas.” Lucy pointed at Roxie as she voiced her agreement, “I was peeping that too. Tell me older step-brother, do you have happy drugs that you are not sharing?” Davon gave his daughter a look but laughed when she poked her tongue out at him. “No,” Jasper said laughing, “I just had a good talk with my girlfriend last night. I guess I’m feeling better so to speak.” Roxie frowned as Davon told Jasper how great it was. But she didn’t feel like it was great. Since he had come back to the reservation, he had been hanging out with her and Lucy. And his attention seemed to be off his girlfriend for now, and Roxie was very much okay with that. Lucy noticing Roxie being bummed out asked in a baby voice, “Aw, so does that mean you’re going to stop being an even sadder sad boy and you two are kissing again?” Jasper gave Lucy a surly look making her giggle. “We’re fine and I’m not a sad boy!” Lucy smirked and Jasper grinned as he put his hood on his head, “I’m depressed.” Lucy scoffed and Roxie giggled again as Davon stood, “Whatever, I’m going to take off. Tell your momma I’m with Stephan.” Lucy nodded and then yawned, “Well I’m going to go and watch something with a lot of abs. You in Roxie?” Roxie looked at Lucy for a moment and then back to Jasper, “Nah I’m good.” Slowly looking between her eager friend and her unaware stepbrother, Lucy said nothing and left them alone. Which spelled trouble for Jasper, so he started to leave, but Roxie grabbed his arm, “Hey.” Jasper let himself be stopped and Roxie pointed at the door, “Come with me, I want to show you something.” Jasper didn’t think it wise to be alone with Roxie. But he also knew he was strong enough to say no to whatever she might think this might become. Following her out of the house and down the coastline, was a quiet walk. They walked for what felt like thirty minutes and then came up to their destination. What seemed to be a little private section of the reservation, the sand was almost black in this direction. Hidden by a rocky alcove, there was a small hut in a tree.  Almost like a more sophisticated, yet empty tree house, sat overlooking the ocean. Roxie climbed the stairs first, promising Jasper the place was empty.   And to avoid looking at her ass, and sand coming off her feet into his eye, Jasper diverted his gaze. “Come on up!” Roxie said as she leaned down to see he hadn’t seen her come in. Instead he was looking at the ocean like a cologne model would. And as the day’s aesthetic seemed to be perfectly matching his vibe, Roxie could weirdly see it. Jasper would make a killing using that face for anything. Jasper followed her up and then he saw how ridiculously small the hut was. And how closed in he’d feel with just him, let alone another person. And that other person was a girl. One that wasn’t his girlfriend. Immediately Jasper wanted to go back down the ladder. He could just see the mental image of having to explain this to Alaia. And even though there was nothing in there suggesting something might happen, Jasper still didn’t like how this was shaping out. His boyfriend vibes were buzzing in his head right now. They reminded him he was in a committed relationship, and that this was not a wise idea. “Ugh Rox, I don’t think-.” Roxie shushed him and waved him over impatient, “Come on you’re going to miss it!” Jasper bit his tongue and finally came all the way into the hut and realized he couldn’t stand all the way up inside. He instead crab walked to the small window beside Roxie and knelled where she sat. “What are we doing?” Roxie pulled him into a sitting position beside her and then pointed out the window, “Look there.” There being a spot in the ocean the winter sun was beaming down on. Grinning, Jasper waited, and waited, but then there was a huge movement, and then a whale appeared. “Whoa!” He said a little shocked. Roxie grinned and nodded as the whale and what appeared to be its baby showed off. Jasper was for a while happy with his decision to stay, but as Roxie’s attention seemed to be more on him, he got right back uncomfortable. Roxie was watching Jasper’s face light up with happiness as he watched the whales, and it made her smile a little. So, when he glanced at her uneasy, she was a grinning/blushing fool. “What?” Jasper asked confused. Roxie shook her head blushing even more as she then teased, “Nothing, you just have a little icing on your cheek.” Jasper tried to get it himself, but after three tries, Roxie wiped it off for him. And Jasper tried to avoid the serious eye lock she’d hoped to accomplish. But even still, Roxie somehow managed to lock him in. And while her brown eyes felt for a connection, his grey seemed to slam the door closed before it could even happen. Looking away, Jasper asked, “So who’s hermit hut did we break into?” Roxie forced a small grin, “Oh, it was a little clubhouse built by the kids. We all used to come up here when were kids at one point or another, but now they just use it for…” Feeling her awkwardly shift beside him, Jasper shot Roxie a look from his peripheral view and winced. He’d been brought to a hook up spot in the reservation with a girl who had a crush on him. And he had a girlfriend.  And while some guys might be okay with that, Jasper was sure as hell not. Jasper swallowed hard as he quickly said, “Right, well we should head back.” Roxie grinned a little as she whispered enticingly, “We don’t HAVE to. I mean, we could keep hanging out.” Unsure, Jasper then felt Roxie’s hand on top of his, “Do you-.” Jasper leaned away as Roxie’s face seemed to come too close to his. “Um.” Jasper softly muttered. Roxie froze surprised Jasper was saying no to her, but he had his reasons. One of them being he’d never betray Alaia like this, even if he was hurting and confused. And while he did like Roxie, she wasn’t a distraction or a jump off for him. She was a girl with feelings and he didn’t want to hurt her. So, to save himself and her, he got up and started to leave, “Where are you going?” Roxie asked confused, Jasper sighed, “Home. You coming?” Roxie looked back out at the ocean disappointed, “I’ll catch up.” She whispered monotone. And Jasper left her to think as the whales went out deeper in the ocean. Far from her as well.
