Jasper didn’t feel like himself.
He felt like foreigner in his own body, and his body didn’t even feel like his own. When he woke up, he had felt like he’d been living a dream, a dream of comfortable black clouds and a breath-taking moon. It had been a warm glow as he floated in bliss and peace.
And then he was back. And he was in a bed with Alaia.
And while that was better than any dream, Jasper felt off. Rubbing his hands together, Jasper looked at the sleeping Alaia. Her tear stained face and puffy eyes making him frown as he knew she’d been crying.
Rubbing them away slowly, Jasper couldn’t believe how different she felt under his fingertips.
Getting up careful not to wake her, Jasper realized something was off immediately. His body was moving with an agility and grace he’d never once had before. Jasper looked around wide eyed as everything seemed so clear to him. He’d thought before his eyesight was 20/20. But now he knew he hadn’t been able to see s**t.
It was like going from HD to 4K.
He could see up into the attic’s beams, the cracks and dust on the old wood. The light dust molecules dancing on the air as he looked around. Jasper jumped when his hand touched Alaia’s desk. Running his hand gently over the wood, Jasper noticed how it felt weird under his hand.
Breakable.
Jasper lightly pushed and then it broke easily like Jenga blocks. Jumping, Jasper stumbled back and then he felt Alaia’s warm body behind him. “I’m s-.” Alaia shook her head smiling a little, “No, it’s okay. It’s just going to take some time to get used to.” Jasper whined unhappy with that thought, “Great, now I’m going to walk around for weeks scared to touch stuff.”
Alaia just stared at him, drinking him in as he talked, relishing that he was back. When Jasper glanced down at her and noticed her misty eyes, he immediately knew why. Pulling her into a hug, Jasper held her tight as she trembled against him.
Feeling a few tears slid down her cheeks, Alaia whispered thickly, “I was so scared. Your heart stopped beating and you were gone. I wanted to die that second.”
Jasper kissed her head and whispered positive, “I was coming back. There were so many things I wanted to see and do with you. There was no way I was going to die and not get to do them. I would have clawed my way out of hell if I needed to.”
Alaia grinned and after wiping her face, Jasper kissed her lovingly. But the moment his lips were on her’s his blood immediately burned hot. He felt the touch of her skin and the warm tingly feeling that erupted under his fingertips made him groan.
Alaia gasped feeling it as well and whispered, “Our connection, it’s gotten stronger.” Jasper panted as he nodded, “Yeah it did. It’s f*****g incredible. And now we have it. Forever.”
And seeing how happy he was about that fact, erased all of Alaia’s doubts.
Kissing him fiercely, Alaia for a moment lost herself in his touch as he felt his veins race with euphoria. Jasper had never felt so high in his life, and all he wanted was more of her.
More of Alaia, in his arms, in her bed, and her blood that was hot for him. His gums began to throb, and Jasper jerked back as suddenly his fangs began to grow.
Alaia watched amazed as his fangs naturally glided out and Jasper looked at her surprised as he nudged one with his tongue. “Did I just grow fangs?” He asked with a lisp shocked. Alaia nodded as he adorably smiled at her. “Cool.”
Kissing him again, Jasper hummed in pleasure but then as her tongue glided into his mouth her tongue hit his fang. And just like that, Jasper’s blood lust was in full affect.
It conquered Jasper’s senses and all he could think, smell, or feel was Alaia. Pushing her on to her bed, Jasper kissed down her neck as he tried to get her out of her clothes. Alaia was right there with him as she fell into the fire with him, the blazing inferno of passion he ignited in her lit.
And it burned hot and fast making them crazed.
They were barely out of their clothes when Haven walked in with her eyes closed. She threw a bucket of ice on them and both Alaia and Jasper jumped as the ice hit their skin. Laying on the ice as it melted on her cover, Alaia sat up and asked, “Why did you do that?”
Haven kept her eyes closed as she muttered, “Sorry. Had to distract you two from the mating heat. Dad said not in the house, we have nowhere else to go and it’s going to take a while.”
Jasper and Alaia righted themselves as he asked, “What’s going to take a while.” Alaia hissed at Haven who held up her hands in mock surrender. “Dad’s packing up the Maserati for you guys and the Benz for Will and Arden. But before you guys go, Daniel wants to speak to the both of you.”
Jasper c****d his head to the side, “Who?” Haven stopped at the door and turned to look over her shoulder, “Daniel? Your grandfather?” Jasper stopped dead as he suddenly did remember seeing an older man. For just a moment, through confused human eyes as his neck snapped itself correct.
“Grandpa?”
