I had a feeling Sabine already knew the answer to her own question, but still her eyes carefully watched mine. She was going to wait for an answer from me, that much was clear, even if I was unwilling to give it. I took a moment to pause and breathe, reminding myself that if I’d made the decision to come this far into this conversation then I needed to continue it. I couldn’t back out now, especially when I’d already shown her my weakness.
