If I were a different person, then maybe these unlucky and uncomfortable things would stop happening to me. Or maybe, if my mother had been a different person, then none of this would be happening. I wouldn’t have inherited her gift, and more importantly, I wouldn’t be seeing the things that I didn’t want to be seeing. Xavier was a catalyst, the second his hand touched mine, I had been launched into what seemed like a different world. I didn’t have a choice, my eyes snapped shut and I lost any hold I’d had on the reality.
Suddenly I was back at the lab in Alex’s parent’s house. The room was eerily quiet, and at first I had thought that I was alone. I turned my head to scan the room, finding the chairs and couch’s empty. N
