Chapter 44: Kaelan, I've Fallen for You
(Kaelan's POV)
"My beloved," my voice cut through the cold night air, drawing Seraphina's gaze to me.
The words came from somewhere deep in my chest, raw and unfiltered. I had never spoken so openly before, but tonight had stripped away all my carefully constructed walls.
"You and Talia are the two most important people to me," I continued, my voice growing hoarse from the emotional weight of nearly losing her. "I only want you both to live happily and safely."
My golden eyes burned with exhaustion and stress from the evening's events, the usual cold mask completely gone. The thought of what could have happened to her made my hands tremble slightly.
Seraphina's face crumpled at my words, and I felt her guilt crash like a tidal wave.
