I lounged on the sofa, crossing my legs in my typical casual manner as I heard footsteps approaching my door.
"Came?" I asked arrogantly when Kaelan entered.
He sat opposite me, his icy gaze instantly making me shrink back into the cushions. The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees.
"Seraphina said you had something to tell me," he stated, his voice carrying that familiar edge of authority.
All my planned excuses and witty remarks vanished under his piercing stare. I felt like a mouse caught by a cat.
