I sighed and opened the door, preparing to go downstairs. The moment I stepped out, I came face-to-face with Seraphina, who had just come up.
I stiffened instantly and quickly shut the door behind me.
"Sera, why are you up here?" I asked, deliberately raising my voice for the person inside to hear.
Seraphina looked puzzled. "I was looking for Jasper. He's not in his room downstairs, and Kaelan can't find him anywhere."
A flicker of panic shot through my eyes. I tried to pull her toward the stairs. "Oh, he probably went for a morning run or something. Come on, let's go have breakfast first."
