“What’s this?” I asked Kino when he showed up in the lobby holding a bouquet of roses.
He smiled brightly. “For you,” he replied. “To brighten up your day, I guess?”
I chuckled and nodded before taking the flowers. “You didn’t have to. But thanks,” I told him before slinging my arm around his. “Are you taking me out for dinner?” I asked.
He shook his head and immediately frowned because we already have planned about this night. We’re eating dinner together. “You have a meeting?” I asked. Maybe that’s why he brought me flowers—to make up for not being able to eat with me tonight.
He narrowed his eyes at me. “No,” he replied. “I mean, we’ll go to my house. I’ll cook us dinner.” He beamed and suddenly all of my worries were washed away.
