“Come in,” Dominic called, but from his tone and his expression, I could tell he wasn’t expecting anyone else.
The door opened slowly and two adorable heads poked in. I was up immediately, moving to the door to let Emma and Lila in. They were still in their nightgowns, and they had impressive bedhead.
“Gerome said you and my mom were in here,” Emma said, looking around for Susie.
I crouched down to rub them both on the back. “Well, your mom was in here, but she left a little bit ago. Are you two ready to get up and have some breakfast?”
Both girls nodded in unison. From the corner of my eye, I noticed Dominic standing up.
“Before you head down to the kitchen,” he said, “would you girls like to see the view from my study window?” He motioned to the window behind him.
