I had been woken up by another call from Henry. Thankfully, neither Lila nor Emma had woken up as Dominic and I had scrambled out of the pillow fort to take the call in the kitchen.
Which is where we sat as Henry hung up on us after making his demands. I immediately tried to call him back, but he didn’t answer.
“He still wants Lila,” I said.
Dominic searched my face. “I guess you really did hang up before he heard anything Susie said.”
I nodded slowly. “He doesn’t realize he has his biological daughter already.”
I set my phone down on the kitchen island and massaged my temples.
