I was pulling up to the Alpha House after dropping all three girls off at school the next day just as Colby Docks emerged from his car. My stomach dropped at the sight of him. I wasn’t sure if Dominic had gotten around to firing him yet.
There was no way in hell he was paying Colby another dollar after finding out Susie cheated on him with the swim instructor. Granted, Susie was manipulating all of us, but that still didn’t excuse Colby’s part.
“Hey, Colby,” I said as I climbed out of Dominic’s SUV. “How’s it going?”
He reached back and scratched the back of his neck, pulling a face. “Not great, Super Nova.”
He was still calling me by the nickname he’d come up with, so that was something.
